Short Description:
Penglipuran Bali Traditional Village
Penglipuran Village is a beautiful highland village in Bangli Regency, East Bali, known for its well-preserved layout and culture. Although most of its residents have embraced modernity, every house in the village still looks traditional. Neatly manicured gardens line the cobblestone street that runs through the center of the village to the local temple, and quaint arched entrance gates and walls hide each house.
The village is one of the main destinations on a trip to the eastern region of Bali, on the same route as the beautiful crater of Mount Batur and the village of Kintamani. Penglipuran village offers a cool, mountainous atmosphere at around 700 meters above sea level and spans over 100 hectares. You can explore bamboo forests (with trails popular with trekking and mountain biking tours), farmland and the village’s main environmental
sites. The majestic Village Temple that stands at the end of the stone path is worth a visit, where you can admire its striking architectural elements.
Kehen Ancient Temple in Bangli Regency
Kehen Temple is an ancient Hindu temple complex that has unique architectural features. The temple courtyard is reachable from the roadside and up 38 flights of stairs. Carved sandstone statues depicting mythical animals and Balinese folklore figures adorn the staircases and the central vestibule. The temple’s walls are also ornate with porcelain plates, harking back to the historical relationship between the local Balinese kingdom and China. You can reach Kehen Temple within a 45-minute drive from Ubud. The temple is
located in the village of Cempaga, a cool upland region that’s also famous for fruit plantations, palm sugar cottage industries, and scenic rural countryside. The primaeval aura of this 11th-century temple is further augmented by the overgrowth of centuries-old banyan trees around the walls of the complex.
Tukad Cepung Natural Waterfall
Tukad Cepung waterfall is also very different from other waterfalls on the island of Bali. The waterfall, which is located between the cliffs that crush us, has a view of a waterfall that is about 15 meters high and in between the cliffs looks very beautiful. The color of the waterfall looks beautiful and clear and the climbs are overgrown with
green moss and some plants. Tukad Cepung is a rising star among Bali’s waterfalls. Tourists flock here to take that perfect Instagram shot. The sunlight between the rocks is one of the highlights here. Tukad Cepung Waterfall Bali will look very exotic when the sun breaks into the between the cliffs from above. The sunlight that enters it creates a very beautiful light effect, like stars falling from the sky.
Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) Temple
The temple is characterised by menacing faces that are carved into the stone – whose purpose is assumed to be the warding off of evil spirits. The primary figure was once thought to be an elephant, hence the nickname Elephant Cave. Other sources state that it is named after the stone statue of the Hindu God Ganesh (characterised by having the head of an elephant) located inside of the temple. The site is mentioned in the Javanese poem Desawarnana written in 1365. An extensive bathing place on the site was not excavated until the 1950s. The entrance of the cave is accessed only by walking down a long flight of stairs. The inside of the temple is small and usually has trails of white smoke from the incense burning. Visitors wearing shorts will be issued a sarong to tie around the waist before entering the courtyard.
